The Portable Surgical Simulator
The GlobalSurgBox is a portable, adaptable, and affordable surgical trainer that can be used by trainees of all levels.
We envision this as a starter platform for a sustainable global surgical education initiative, inviting ongoing innovation for trainees to create future iterations based on local needs and resource availability.
What other surgical residents say
“I loved it! Especially love getting a little coaching and then being able to practice on my own.”
“Love the tacklebox, makes it portable!”
“Great experience and super helpful for practice..”
Train your surgical skills anywhere. The GlobalSurgBox is made with portability and durability in mind. Practice it at home, in the OR, in the resident room on the wards – whenever and wherever you have time to spare.
The GlobalSurgBox can be used by trainees at any level, from medical students to cardiothoracic surgery fellows. Any infinite number of exercises and modules can be designed by the user. This is a simulator that grows with the learner!
The GlobalSurgBox designed to overcome resource constraints, allowing packaging and distribution to low-resource settings through a “make one locally, give one globally” model.
Make one locally, give one globally
Our group has designed a low-cost surgical simulation kit to help overcome resource constraints, allowing for easy and affordable implementation. We are planning to implement a “make one locally, give one globally” approach wherein programs with access to U.S. based resources and materials will assist in creating and distribution simulation kits to our partners in low and middle income countries. We see this as a sustainable global surgical education initiative, inviting ongoing innovation for trainees to create future iterations based on local needs.
